I was born and brought up in Massachusetts. I owned a commercial photo lab in Worcester from 1976 until 2007. From 2008 until 2017, I lived on my boat full time. I’m now exploring the US by land in a motor home.
I have been camping and boating for as long as I can remember. My parents had a large tent pitched on a wooden platform on Lake Manchaug in Sutton Massachusetts. We spent many fun summer days and nights there. My sisters would ski behind our little speed boat and I would fish and swim all day. When I was 12, they transitioned to a 23’ Cabin Cruiser which they kept in Wickford, RI on Narragansett Bay for many years. I quickly developed a love for boating and was never without one for the next 52 years. My boating adventures have ranged from the Hudson River to Lake Champlain, the St. Lawrence Seaway to the Great Lakes, The Mississippi River to The Gulf of Mexico, The East coast from Key West to Maine, The Chesapeake Bay and two years living at anchor in the Bahamas.
My first major land trip was at the age of 21 when I took a Volkswagen camper on an 18,000-mile cross country journey with a budget of $2,000. In July 2018 I sold my boat, and in August bought a class A motorhome. The plan is to revisit the country that I explored 45 years ago with a slightly larger budget. We took a 5,000-mile shakedown trip in the fall of 2018 and have been spending time since then upgrading and outfitting systems to make our experience even better.
